Husband and Wife Beef is a famous traditional dish from the city of Chengdu, Sichuan, belonging to the great family of Sichuan cuisine. In the 1930s, there was a couple in Sichuan who had a street food cart; the husband was named Guo Chaohua and the wife Zhang Tianzheng. One prepared, the other sold. The exquisite preparation of these cold-seasoned morsels results in a bright golden-red color, with a spicy and intense flavor.
