Buriram Tummoo

Salad Menu
"Plara" or "Pla Daek" is a verb meaning to stuff or pack into a bamboo tube. Plara differs from rotten fish because the cleaned fish is mixed with roasted rice bran and salt, then packed into jars to ferment. The salt preserves the fish for over half a year, giving the fermented fish a fragrant aroma. Households with many jars of pla daek, or daughters skilled at making it, are highly regarded. Buriram Tum Moo restaurant uses pla ra from Buriram province, boiled with special spices, then filtered to obtain a fine, smooth paste that can be eaten and has a pleasant aroma. It is not fishy, contains no preservatives, thickeners, or artificial colors.
Curry & Soup Menu
Buriram Tum Moo restaurant's curry and soup dishes are carefully selected from dishes favored by the wealthy. Eating pork, beef, or chicken soup or curry mixed with Isaan herbs and vegetables is believed to bring wealth, helping one become a 'Nai Hoi' (wealthy merchant) or 'Mae Phaya' (influential woman).
Larb - Koy Menu
Larb is a dish that sounds like 'laap' (fortune). Isaan people prepare this dish only for major celebrations, auspicious occasions, or promotions. On days of good luck or winning the lottery, the family will eat larb, but there is a 'kalam' (taboo) that larb must not be allowed to spoil during auspicious events, as it would signify bad luck that could ruin the host's destiny.
Noodle Menu
Eating noodle dishes is considered a wish for a long life. 'Khao Pun' or 'Khanom Jeen' are served at celebrations and merit-making ceremonies. The only exception in Buriram is wedding ceremonies, as 'Khao Pun' is associated with 'wunwai' (chaos). Our restaurant's specialty is our chef's extensive experience with Italian pasta. This menu offers an option for those who don't eat fermented fish but enjoy noodles.
Grilled & Salad Menu
Due to the arid and harsh conditions of the region, enjoying grilled and salad dishes with pork, chicken, beef, or seafood was considered a sign of good fortune or wealth for any household that could prepare them.
