In 1825, king of Italy asked his pastry chefs to create a dessert to impress an elegant lady. Using Piedmont's finest ingredients, they crafted a delicate hazelnut cookie, its two halves joined by chocolate: Baci di Dama, or 'Lady's Kisses. The lady was charmed, the king was delighted, and it soon became a royal favorite — later inspiring the beloved BACIO chocolate kiss.
