BIBIMBAP IN KOREA The origin of Bibimbap is not entirely determined, but it could be a peasant dish made from leftovers. There are many variations, but all are based on the same foundation which can be summarized in 4 points. The 4 essential rules for a good Bibimbap: good rice, fresh vegetables, chili, and harmony of the 5 colors. THE 5 CARDINAL COLORS? In Korean cuisine, 5 colors are important. According to Korean philosophy, each color is beneficial for a part of the body, and also corresponds to the five elements and the cardinal directions.
