Shukō Wataru

酒肴 わたる

A kappo restaurant found on Organ-zaka, with great taste and a comfortable atmosphere. Seasonal flavors and love for hometown served with honest and meticulous work. Organ-zaka, lined with vintage clothing stores and record shops, is bustling with people until late at night. The white noren curtain quietly hanging in the alley is the landmark of "Shukō Wataru." Sitting at the counter, you'll be enveloped in a sense of comfort that makes you forget you're in the lively Udagawa-cho. Mr. Wataru Nakajima, the owner, is 41 years old and from Abashiri City, Hokkaido. After honing his skills in Chinese and Japanese cuisine, teppanyaki, and soba restaurants, he decided to "compete in the field of Japanese cuisine where local ingredients can be showcased" and opened this restaurant in this location with his wife, Yuka, in 2022. The restaurant offers authentic Japanese cuisine that shines with sincere craftsmanship while reflecting the seasons. The platter on this day included shirako and suji-ko from Hokkaido salmon, and snow crab. The homemade miso used in the closing miso soup comes from the owner's family home, showcasing his love for his hometown in every detail.
